What does port arms mean in relation to hunting ?

';Port arms'; means to carry your rifle in such a manner as to have the your right hand on the wrist of the rifle and your left hand on the forestock. The rifle is held in front of your chest at a 45 deg. angle with the muzzle end angling up and to the left and the butt down to the right. If you are a lefty, it would be held just the opposite. That is, with the left hand on the wrist of the rifle and the right hand on the forestock with the muzzle angling up and to the right.
