Depends on the state. In California you can carry a weapon ';openly'; but not loaded, or even have the ammo within reach. If in a car, the weapon can be within reach, but the ammo has to be in another compartment like the trunk or back seat, they can't be together, in an urban environment!
I wouldn't try it if i were you.
You would be charged with disorderly conduct. The gun itself is not a problem
