Which movie should we watch???What movie should I watch Good Will Hunting (Matt Damon) or Blood Diamond (Leonardo DiCaprio)?
BLOOD DIAMOND
VERY INTERESTINGWhat movie should I watch Good Will Hunting (Matt Damon) or Blood Diamond (Leonardo DiCaprio)?
Those are both really good movies, so you can't go wrong either way. If you want a movie with a little bit of action and kind of political, go with Blood Diamond. If you just want a straight up drama, go for Good Will Hunting.
I dunno, I didn't really like either movie. I guess Blood Diamond.
Blood Diamond Leonardo DiCaprio
Odin~~~%26gt;

Why would farming be a more beneficial way of life than hunting and gathering?
Neolithic RevolutionWhy would farming be a more beneficial way of life than hunting and gathering?
Not that farming does not have its disadvantages but could you image that in every family of five they hard three hunter and the current world population is well over 6 billion. Certainly farming has brought about settlement, leading to a more appealing form of civilization and more may be. With the growing concern for the preservation of our ecology, and/or the protection of wildlife, we would have ran out food by now or the worlds population would never had gotten to this level. Which ever way you view this farming in a way is more beneficial than hunting, in that we have the power - in this case I mean knowledge, and all that facilitates it - to manipulate crops and livestock's to meet our demands for food. Agriculture has its limitations but compared to hunting it is more beneficial. There are other advantages of farming to consider just as mentioned by others answering your question. Why would farming be a more beneficial way of life than hunting and gathering?
It's a question of availability.
If you go out gathering, once you have taken the fruit in your vicinity, you have to travel further afield. The same with hunting. You have to find the prey, and then successfully catch/kill them.
But, if you farm, you can grow your own produce next to and around where you choose to live. You can choose the ideal location and then grow your food where you are.
It was easier on people. People could settle down in a permanent place, rather than move with their food. They could grow surplus to eat during the winter and have a place to store it so they wouldn't starve. Shelter would always be available unlike with the nomadic lifestyle.
You would have greater variety than the ';take what you can get'; of hunting/gathering. You could also develop varieties of food.
you can obtain much much much more food from an acre of land by farming than you could by simply hunting and gathering.

In the 1840-1860's (when travelling west) what kind of hunting was there and what would you do?
If you were lucky enough to have something cross your path you shot it and ate it. Leaving the trail to pursue animals was time consuming and took you away from the relative safety of your companion travelers.
Common mammals: buffalo (American Bison)
several varieties of deer
bear
rodents: beaver, prarie dog, gopher
rabbits, squirrels
Common birds : waterfowl, prarie chicken, doves, turkey
Reptiles when desperate: turtles, snakes, lizardsIn the 1840-1860's (when travelling west) what kind of hunting was there and what would you do?
bear, deer, elk, moose, buffalo
We used to stalk the animals. Two or three of us would hide in different places and then others would try to flush the game in our direction. Game was so plentiful that we always shot enough food for several families. We would put the dead buffalo, deer etc in a wagon then take it to a group skinning place. The women and children would tend the fires to cook some of the meat and the men would string up the animals on trees head down, slit their throats and bleed them out. Then they would skin the animal, put different pieces into salt to preserve it and then each family would take home as much as they needed. Those that didn't have a cold cellar would hang their meat from a tall trees to keep the bear, and panthers from getting to it.

Why is it that the act of killing animals is called hunting, but the act of killing humans is called murder?
I was reading a short story called ';The Most Dangerous Game'; and the thought dawned on me. So why is it?Why is it that the act of killing animals is called hunting, but the act of killing humans is called murder?
I think in the case of animals its called hunting because you plan to go out, find the animal, stalk it, and kill it for food. At least that's why I kill animals, for food. You are actually HUNTING the animal.
But in the case for humans, in most cases, the reason for killing is much different. Most of the time its in a fit of rage, or to steal. I guess you could argue that some serial killers hunted their victims.
So I think it come down to why the animal or person was killed. For the purposes of eating they call it hunting, they call it murder when some one is killed for money, fit of rage, some one who holds a grudge, or just evil reasons. Why is it that the act of killing animals is called hunting, but the act of killing humans is called murder?
because humans are in control and animals basically have little to no rights.
when ever there is a lack of equality lacking enforcment by a higher being (god, aliens etc...), the group that has the most power will abuse those under them.
in the case of the most dangerous game, the rich hunter sees himself as a previledged person above others. this is similiar to the case of how whites have justified their treatment of blacks for the last 400 years. as long as there is no higher being/race, blacks will have to be the hunted while the whites are the hunters.
those in charge CAN NOT ever govern themselves justly.
i love that story! the guy is a lunatic! umm i dont know maybe because the definition of murder is ';The unlawful killing of one human by another, especially with premeditated malice'; so if an animal killed an animal its murder...get it%26gt;? and hunting is ';The activity or sport of pursuing game';
so i guess if a human makes it a sport to kill another human it would be called hunting...
Simple, animals are not human they have no soul. There not nearly as important as humans are yet we need most animals to live and make this world go round however it says in the bible numerous numerous times that animals were sacrificed and eaten in feasts. So most animals were put on this earth for us to eat not to pet. As for hunting well to kill an animal for no reason is only useless, but using the animal for feed or food is useful. Killing animals isnt murder killing humans is murder because us humans having souls it cuts short our lives of having the chance of salvation whoever does the murdering but God is always the one who decides who dies and who lives. While most people think animals are being murdered, God the creator of these animals thinks otherwise so why question what God created for us on this earth if anyone should complain its God not humans so we should never questions Gods work or creations.
The Old English and Germanic roots of ';hunt'; mean ';chase'; or ';search';. Because, in the ideal, at least, killing animals has a purpose- food.
The Old English, Germanic, Greek, and Latin roots of ';murder'; mean ';death';. Murder is often pointless.
That's such a great story.
the act of killing animals is called hunting because we, as humans, have evolved to become the apex predator in our food-web. thus, hunting animals for food has been done by humans for hundreds of thousands of years. you just can't ';murder'; your prey. does a lion ';murder'; a gazelle? murder is defined as taking another persons life, not a hamburgers'.
Because than the world would be thrown into choas, everyone would be allowed to kill whoever they wanted because its just hunting. Also humans seem to think they are the supierior race, but in reality animals don't create hate and wars, while humans do all the time for no reason at times.
Hunting- because humans are the smarter and superior creatures. we're at the ';top of the totem pole'; so to speak
Murder- because it says in the Bible ';thou shalt not commit murder'; murder because everyone is created equal and not one is superior to another.
why is it that when a individual kills to benefit his own life and well being its called murder, but when one kills under a uniform for the financial benefit of rich American industrialists (top 1000 richest American men) its called being patriotic?
It's always been like this from the beggining of time......God gave domain over all creatures to humans....that's how we have survived for hundreds of years....hunt kill and eat....as for a sporting event I dont agree with that whatsoever..
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
In my opinion, they should both be murder, unless it is for basic survival needs. Not a friggin sporting activity, i very much disliked that short story.
i dont agree with hunting whatsoever,
but even you have to admit that a human life is more important then that of an animals.
if you had a choice to either save a human child or a kitten, which would you choose?
It was necessary at one time( and acceptable ) to hunt animals for food.
While I think it is a macho stunt to hunt, if you are using what you kill it is ok.
Some people do call killing an animal ';murder';. I call it ';hunting'; because I eat animals. I do not, however, eat other people.
Yet.
Brrrrrrrraaaaaaaaiiiiinzzzzzzz
cause animals hunt eachother and... well its sortof a big contriversy because some people believe that animal should be treated like humans. yet some people strongly disagree because we are more intellagent thus we get different words.
Humans are intelligent creatures that make great additions to this world. Like machines, medicine, and television. Animals never gave us a great invention.
Because we humans think that we are so much more important than the lowly animals that keep the ecosystem going.
because animals aren't humans, but some sick people do hunt humans also.
Population control. Think what happens every time we get too many of a certain species. We need a new term to keep the hippies quiet so we don't all starve.
Because unfortunately we are at the top of the food chain
Because the Law says it'scalled Murder.
It's not fair but that's just the way it is, and you're absoloutely right.
Listen to Meat is Murder by The Smiths.
its just because idiots in the government still let people kill innocent animals who have every right to live. and they permit it because most of the law makers and such hunt themselves.

Lord of the flies Hunting of Ralph?
I need help of finding out how this is significant, what it symbolizes, and some supports for my essayLord of the flies Hunting of Ralph?
The hunting of Ralf shows that the boys have finally descended into complete savagery. All throughout the book the boys come closer and closer to death, with Ralf as the final step.
*First step toward death-These deaths have nothing to do with the boys, they were not the cause.
When the boys crash land on the island, it is assumed(yet never stated) that some of the boys probably died in the crash and were washed back out to see in the plane(none of the survivors see this).
**Second- The boys light a signal fire, yet it gets out of control. After this fire the boy with the birthmark is never mentioned again. It is assumed that he was killed in the fire(although never stated). This brings them closer b/c they are the cause of the boys death, but it was not intentional, nor did they arctually witness the death.
***Third- Simon is killed by all the boys when they mistake him for the beast. None of the boys killed Simon of purpose, however they were all involved in killing him and causing his death. This death was witnessed and participated in by all the boys. Simon's body is washed out into sea and taken away from the boys and the island(significant b/c it still separates them from the death)
****Forth- Roger willfully and intentionally kills Piggy. All the other boys are shocked at first, since this is the first intentional killing of another person on the island, they soon embrace the fact that Piggy was killed. Unlike Simon's body Piggy remains on the island(down on the beach).
*****Fifth- The hunting of Ralf is the final step, the boys have left civilization behind and embraced their savage side. The boys all plan on killing Ralf and impaling his head on a stake. This attempted act of murder was planned and done with malice. Unlike the other deaths on the island this one would have been intentional. Its is significant b/c of the fact that this is the final step into savagry.Lord of the flies Hunting of Ralph?
You got a good question here. I read the book, but it was many years ago. If I remember right, Ralph symbolized a couple things. First, he was an outcast because of his weight and his dependency on his glasses. In the world of isolated adolescence, he was not poised on the edge of being self sufficient (which is one thing boys that age identify with). And again, using the term 'isolated', the boys were reverting to primal instincts due to their situation. They were not yet mature enough to do the right thing, and Ralph was a voice of reason and compromise. Ralph didn't fit in with these primal behaviors.
